Andreas Lanitis, PhD, is a Professor of Image Processing and Computer Vision, at the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts, Cyprus University of Technology and the Director of the Visual Media Computing Research Lab.

Andreas Lanitis, PhD, is a Professor of Image Processing and Computer Vision, at the Department of Multimedia and Graphic Arts, Cyprus University of Technology and the Director of the Visual Media Computing Research Lab.
He is also the leader of the BIO-SCENT (Biometrics for Smart human-Centred EmergiNg Technologies) Multidisciplinary Research Group of CYENS Centre of Excellence.
He received the degree of B. Eng in Electronic Engineering (1991) and PhD in Image Processing and Computer Vision (1995), both from the University of Manchester, UK. Subsequently, he carried out research in the Division of Imaging Science and Biomedical Engineering, the University of Manchester. His research interests are focused on machine vision, Biometrics and Virtual Reality applications. He has published more than 200 papers in scientific journals, edited books and conference proceedings.
He was the principal investigator or partner in 23 externally funded research projects funded by National or European agencies.
